Warehouse Layout

Warehouse Layout is the canvas for modeling the physical warehouse. It should stay focused on the map: elements, location structure, labels, pick paths, exports, and 3D representation.

What can be added

  • pallet rack,
  • shelving,
  • pick face,
  • pack bench,
  • dock door,
  • staging,
  • returns,
  • value-add,
  • column,
  • office,
  • conveyor,
  • wall,
  • custom elements.

Common location model

For rack and shelving modules, the common hierarchy is:

  • aisle or zone prefix,
  • bay,
  • level,
  • pick face or slot.

In this app, a bay means a vertical section within racking that runs across all levels.

Pickable faces

If a rack has upper replenishment levels, users should set the exact number of pickable levels. For example, a rack can have 9 total levels but only 5 pickable levels.

Canvas controls

Users can:

  • drag elements,
  • resize elements from handles,
  • multi-select elements,
  • copy and paste elements with settings,
  • undo and redo,
  • pan the map with the hand tool,
  • switch to a big canvas,
  • toggle 2D and 3D views,
  • export the map,
  • export locations,
  • download labels from selected racks.

Pick paths

Pick paths can show start and end points, such as carts to pack station. A suggested route should follow alphanumeric walking sequence and avoid unnecessary backtracking.

3D map

The 3D map shows racks and elements with height. It should help users understand vertical storage, location labels, SKU placement, and pickable areas.

Export/import

The full project can be exported and imported into another account. This is useful for 3PLs, consultants, or support teams helping another workspace.
