Understanding and Resolving Inventory Discrepancies Between Logentic and Shopify

Last updated: July 11, 2025

If you notice differences between your Logentic and Shopify inventory levels, there are several common causes and solutions to address these discrepancies.

Common Causes of Inventory Discrepancies

  1. Limbo Units from Cancelled Orders: When orders are picked but cancelled before packing, the inventory returns to "In Stock" in Logentic, but requires proper physical return and system updates.

  2. Incomplete Replenishments: Units in replenishment containers may show as "In Stock" or "Sellable" in Logentic without being assigned to specific locations.

How Inventory Syncing Works

Inventory levels between Logentic and Shopify sync through webhooks, which means:

  • Updates only occur when specific actions trigger them (such as inventory adjustments, order creation, or cancellations)

  • The Manual Product Sync feature will sync product information and new products, but does not sync inventory levels

Resolving Inventory Discrepancies

  1. Check the Problematic Orders section in Logentic to identify and resolve any pending returns or cancelled orders

  2. Ensure all replenishments are properly completed

  3. Verify that physical inventory matches the expected counts in both systems
