Understanding and Managing Archived SKUs in Inventory Management
Last updated: January 9, 2025
How to Identify Archived SKUs
In the inventory management interface, archived SKUs are not immediately visible. To view archived SKUs:
Go to the SKU dashboard
Type "Archived" in the Search Bar
Archiving and Unarchiving SKUs
The system's user interface for archiving and unarchiving SKUs can be confusing. Here's what you need to know:
When a SKU is not archived, clicking the "Archive" button will archive it.
When a SKU is already archived, the same button will say "Unarchive".
Important: The confirmation message may be misleading. It always asks if you want to "unarchive" the SKU, regardless of its current status. Pay attention to the current status of the SKU before confirming.
Removing SKUs
If you want to completely remove a SKU from the system:
Ensure the SKU has no inventory and no history.
Click on the "Remove" button for that SKU.
If successful, the SKU will be deleted from the SKU dashboard.
Note: If you're unable to remove a SKU, it may have associated inventory or history.
Best Practices
Regularly review your SKUs to ensure accuracy.
Archive SKUs that are no longer in use but may have historical data.
Remove SKUs only when you're certain they're no longer needed and have no associated data.
Double-check the status of a SKU after making changes to ensure the desired action was completed.
